Grand Hotel Villa Serbelloni is a neoclassical villa on the water in Bellagio, the village in the middle of Lake Como. We photographed Jessica and Ryan’s wedding there: they came from Los Angeles and married by the lake at sunset.

A villa built for love

Count Frizzoni, from a noble family in Bergamo, built the villa as a holiday home on the lake. It was finished in 1854 and opened on the Countess’s birthday. In 1873 it became the Grand Hotel Bellagio. Since 1918 it has belonged to the Bucher family, now in its fourth generation.

Today it is the only five-star hotel in Bellagio. Its gardens reach down to the water and the hotel is open from April to November.

Jessica and Ryan said their vows in the villa’s garden by the water at sunset, with the light reflecting on the lake and the mountains turning blue behind them. At that hour the lake looks like a film set: we kept the two of them against the water and let the sun drop behind the mountains.

After the ceremony there was an aperitivo with Italian flavours on the villa’s terrace above the lake.

Jessica walked down the aisle with her father, between their guests and the palms of the garden.

Then everyone moved inside for the reception in the Salone Reale, under crystal chandeliers and antique gold stucco, with long tables lit by candles. The night ended on the dance floor.
