Weddings at Il Riccio, on the rocks of Capri

Il Riccio is a restaurant and beach club on the cliffs of Anacapri, close to the Blue Grotto, with a terrace that faces the sunset. We photographed Nicholas and Penny’s wedding on Capri: a ceremony above the Faraglioni, portraits by the Punta Carena lighthouse and a long dinner at Il Riccio.

Il Riccio and its terrace

Il Riccio is part of the Jumeirah Capri Palace and sits right above the sea, with its own access to the water. For events it has a terrace of about 220 square metres facing the sunset, for up to 170 guests. Guests can arrive by land or by boat.

Nicholas and Penny had their reception under the thatched roof of the terrace, with yellow lemons and pink bougainvillea on the tables, two of the colours of the island. Dinner was fish, then everyone danced on the terrace until late.

A wedding day across the island

A wedding on Capri moves around the island. Nicholas and Penny got ready at Hotel La Palma, had their first look in a quiet corner near an ancient monastery and then married on a terrace perched above the Faraglioni, the two famous rocks in the sea.

Before dinner we took them to the Punta Carena lighthouse for their portraits, in the warm light at the end of the day. Our style comes from cinema and Capri gives you a different set at every turn: we only had to frame it.

Their ceremony was quiet: only the sound of the waves on the rocks and the wind in the pine trees. Then came a surprise. The Scialapopolo Capri Folk Band arrived in their colourful clothes with tambourines and the party started right there.

The wedding was planned and designed by Exclusive Italy Weddings.

Where is Il Riccio?

Can we have the ceremony at Il Riccio?

Nicholas and Penny married on a terrace above the Faraglioni and came to Il Riccio for the reception. For a ceremony on the terrace itself, ask the venue.

How many guests can Il Riccio host?

According to the venue, up to 170 guests on its terrace. A smaller private terrace works for an elopement or a dinner for two.

Do you charge for travel to Capri?

Travel is included anywhere in mainland Italy. For Capri we quote the ferry and accommodation before you sign, so there are no surprises.
